This is a small diner and very unassuming, but do not let the exterior fool you. The food is excellent. I ordered out 12 fish and chip dinners for Good Friday. We had 9 haddock and 3 halibut. The food was delicious, generous and extremely reasonable and with free delivery on orders over $18.

We visited on Sunday for brunch and to celebrate a birthday. We have been here before and loved it so decided to take our out of town guests here to celebrate. They were so impressed with the Blackshop. We had intimate seating for the 6 of us. Several in our group ordered the eggs benedict and they were delicious! Eggs were perfectly poached. There was live music which we really enjoyed. The volume was just right. We will be back again soon!

They also sell different types of fish that's not listed on the menu. The sides range from fries-potatoes-rice-veggies-garden salad.

I am a local. Truthfully, we havn't eaten at the Bruce in over 6 years. We just didn't like the atmosphere inside for our family. Recently, I heard from a friend that it's improved greatly. So, we decided to give it another try.
Our family went for wing night. We LOVED IT! Wings are big, plump & juicy. The saucy ones (medium & hot) weren't over sauced-just right. The dry rub ones (cajun rub) were delicious! Our daughter ordered chicken fingers & fries. They were not processed chicken fingers; but the real deal-always love to see that. The fries are awesome-FRESH CUT!! Our son ordered the mini burgers & chips. They were yummy! You can't beat homemade burgers.
My only complaint (reason for 4 stars) would be that the waitress could've been a little more attentive. She didn't smile much and at times we wondered if she forgot about us. That being said, it didn't spoil the meal by any means.
We all agreed that we'll be back. Can't wait to go back for kids eat free Sunday. It was so much better than going to our "chain" restaurants. This was all freshly made & delicious. We're so glad we gave the Bruce another try, this is our new favorite supper spot in town.

Always a good time but sometimes food can be a let down. Chicken, meh....but the chicken wings are great. Pizza is a toss, excuse the pun but I've great nights and sadly don't like it nights. It can get really loud so be prepared if you are bringing the grandparents (they may want to turn down their hearing aids). It's kid friendly on one side and has obviously long time locals and party people on the bar side as well. A nice mix all around.

We made reservation and got exactly what we asked for. Service was prompt and startes made it the table less then 15 minutes after ordering. Visited this restaurant for the first time on Saturday afternoon after driving by several times and not even realizing that it was really there (found it on restaurantica). We all shared a bunch of appetizers which were all great (huge portions so we took a lot of food home) and then my husband and I split the clubhouse and a burger. The burger was the best that I had ever had, and the clubhouse was great. I was with a party of 5 and we were all totally shocked by the huge portions that we received. The service was extremely friendly and speedy and we were made to feel like we were right at home. The server even wrote out a list of their daily specials for us so that we would know for the next time we came back. The place was super busy and I can see why. I have a feeling that this will turn into our new local spot for dinner and drinks. Great atmosphere with cliental that seemed to be from toddler right through to the elderly and prices are extremely reasonable.. for all of the food we ordered it probably would have cost double anywhere else!

Although they're famous for their chicken, we'll be going back for their fish (and maybe try the chicken for my 'no way I'm eating fish' husband). My son and I were looking for a quick bite for lunch after doing some shopping at the nearby Scholars Choice and found this place. Smelled soo good. As we didn't see a lot of prices or labels, my son ordered the Portuguese sausage sandwich and I lingered over the windows filled with mountains of fish, rice, potatoes and was served by a very pleasant and helpful young man. I asked about a particular dish and ended up ordering the amazing looking and super delicious cod with a side of potatoes, The server put two layers of potatoes in a good sized container, covered it with the huge portion of cod and then he began spooning a loving amount of the yummy sauce over the dish. As it really isn't a sit down place, we were hungry and ate there. I paid less than $20 and was in heaven. My son enjoyed his sausage but will definitely order the cod next time. Was surprised to read about 'grumpy' servers. Ours even thanked us for coming on our way out. Maybe because it was in the early Friday afternoon, we saw that customers were served quickly (looked like they ordered huge quantities ahead) and courteously. Definitely going back for that cod. Pssst...I overhead the guy tell someone its only available Fridays and Saturdays.
