Having recently turned 65 last week, my wife and I decided to celebrate it by a take out order. We were delighted that the owner Rhonda personally delivered it. She remembered us from many years of eating there. She wished me a happy birthday and stayed for a short visit to meet our new Newfoundland puppie.Being such a Wonderful person she also brought some free cheesecake and ravioli along with the rest of the order. I've visited this little sub and ice cream shop many times and it always has me feeling very satisfied, and warm inside cause I was able to help out a small mom and pop shop. The man working here, whom I've yet to get his name is a vibrant heat warming fella'. Very friendly, makes you feel like a regular. The food, great! I can't believe anyone would rate this place poorly, for what it is its FANTASTIC. I've tried almost all the subs on the menu, my most recent visit I got the rib sub for myself, loaded it up with all the toppings, made a huge mess eating it and loved every minute of it. Its places and eats like this that make life all worth while, yes its a big statement I know but its truly a gem. Something has to be done right to get consistent high ratings. I was shocked to see someone write a poor review on this place knowing full well what they were getting into. These are the comfort foods that are hard to come by in this day and age with big franchised companies saturating the industry. From street meat to racks of lamb, I've had it all and this place gets my approval! I will be coming back and I'm bringing a crowd. Wheres Anthony Bourdain when you need him? p.s. Swiss Chalet Franchised first united in the year of 1954 and has been a Canadian favorite ever since. Swiss Chalet is known for its fresh on premise rotisserie chicken; the slow roasted chicken is also served with Canadian potatoes and simmering delicious Chalet dipping sauce. Swiss Chalet, is also known for its incredible tender grilled ribs, also served with sides of fresh cut fries, that makes Chalets food so delicious. Every Swiss Chalet location has a family orientated atmosphere. The setting consists of casual tables and booth seating as many as twelve customers, comfortable chairs and simple artwork covers the walls. We were lucky enough to be placed beside a warm brick fireplace, on a cold winter afternoon. As we walked in, we were instantly greeted by the host at Swiss Chalet on Dundas Street in Cambridge, Ontario. He led us to our booth within minutes, as the waitress made her way to our table. The energy around us from the staff, customers and store were welcoming, warm, and crucial to how comfortable, and suitable our lunch was going to be. The rotisserie chicken club wrap with fries, along with the rotisserie quarter chicken meal with whipped potatoes was ordered during our visit, with excellent service and time management. The server was friendly, engaged in conversation and interest of what we were ordering and how satisfied we were with our Swiss Chalet experience. Our overall experience at Swiss Chalet, the Cambridge location was delightful. We encourage many individuals to take their date, spouse or family to the nearest location for their next great dinner experience for delicious food, friendly service and comfortable setting.
