I had the spicy sezchuan noodle bowl with beef and handmade noodles (D9). The noodles were chewy and delicious. The broth was flavourful. There was a good amount of tender pieces of beef in it. This restaurant has excellent sushi. The fish is so fresh and very high quality. The ratio of fish to rice is perfect. I've been eating there since it opened and their quality and great service have been consistent since day 1. Our "go to" meal for two is the medium Sushi Moriawase which is a 30 piece assortment of sushi and maki, a small salad and miso soup. I find the value for the money very good at $30 for two (+ tax and tip). I'm thankful they opened so close to home so I can get a good sushi fix whenever I need one! Read more

I had my reservations about dining here as it's been at least 2 years since I've been to this Momiji location. However, my usual sushi places were closed on Labour Day, they had Lunch Specials goin' on, so why not? I ordered Sushi Bento (4 nigiri, 6 spicy salmon, 4 tempura) which was $10.50. My bf had Sushi Combo (6 cali, 7 nigiri), $11.50. And we added the Alaska Roll - $7.95 - we didn't think that we'd have enough food. Both Lunch Specials were AMAZING value, including miso soup + salad. So we didn't need the Alaska Roll. Fish was pretty fresh, no pieces fell apart, detailed presentation, good service - having our tea refilled without asking! I have never been here for Dinner, but Lunch Specials are until 3:30pm and GREAT VALUE. So if you're in the Clarkson area, check this place out! Read more

Hey Legend fans, enough! Don't spread the word anymore or we will all regret it and just have to resort to take-out. Our favourite little lunch spot was fully jammed this Wednesday at noon. We were lucky to get the last available table. In spite of the crowd service was almost as prompt as usual thanks to the cheerful senior server with only a beginner helping him, - sort of, out front. Kismet is my go-to place for Indian/Bangladeshi food in Waterloo. I usually get take out because the space is pretty small, and I've never had a problem with the people at the cash. My partner is not a fan of cilantro and they've never given as a problem when we ask for items without. Their naan is the best I've had in Waterloo (Grain of Salt in Cambridge is the only place I've tried with better naan). Much better than the sort of pancakey stuff I've seen at other places *cough*Curry in a Hurry. I really like their aloo gobi, which is potato and caulifower with curry spices. I ordered take out online through their online ordering system, which is very fast and convenient for a lunch time take out order from my work. I got the curry chicken lunch special and with out realizing it, I was going to order an extra samosa thinking it wouldn't come with one because the price was so cheap. But to my surprise it came with the curry chicken, rice and a samosa. Most places for $7.50 you just get the chicken and rice so I was very satisfied with the amount of food and price. I also decided to get as hot as possible because most Indian places give you a mild at best even when you ask for as hot as possible (possibly because of the type of people that live in this area) and this was definitely hot. When we got there it was a little crazy inside because it was 12:30pm and the staff seemed to be rushing around but in all that rush two people had asked us if we were there for the pick up order or to dine in. We got our food quickly and 2 staff members (one of which who seemed like he may have been the owner) sparked up conversations with us while still doing their jobs. The flavour of the curry was great. I don't eat Indian curry as much as Thai curry (for any one who eats both, there is a big difference) but I have some what of an idea how Indian curries should taste. What was good: the price, the service, the food and the convenience is really great . What could be better: if it was an all you can eat buffet and the hours of operation seem to be really weird and the decor inside the restaurant seemed to have been from a pub that was there before it. Mandarin is a really excellent place to eat a buffet. They are really kind to you and free refills (water, coke). They give you these mint candy after your visit for free. If you tell them that it is your birthday, they give you a cake piece, sing the happy birthday song and a free picture. Also, they have decorations for you to enjoy and they keep the place very neat. I like how they make food and name the food it’s specific name. The names also say if it is sugar-free, and if it is spicy. They have specific rooms that they assign you to eat and the sign tells you what room it is (Room A, Room b .etc.). The employes are really nice and when you come in, they make you feel welcomed (unless if the lineup is really long and people have reservations). After you are done with your food, you can just leave your plate on your table. You can get a new plate with food on it so you do not have to use the same plate over and over again. In conclusion, you should really go to Mandarin. It is a really excellent buffet to go to. It has crab legs right now and they are really expensive to buy at a store. They have a variety of foods and make their own combinations of foods which is really good.
