My friends and I decided to visit Cambridge for an out-of-town getaway. We are all admitted food snobs (one is a chef), so we perused menus and reviews online before heading out (we're from the GTA). It was pretty busy on Friday night so I am glad we made reservations. We arrived and were seated by a very accommodating host (who we found out later was an owner), and served by one of the most pleasant servers I've ever encountered (perhaps his name was Josh?). Every single employee at that restaurant was happy to be at work, which may not sound important, but it is and is one of the gages I use when I'm dining out. My husband and I both worked in restaurants for years, and happy staff says a lot about the owners, chef and overall customer experience that the server is trying to sell. Josh spoke highly of the owner as well as proudly explained the food and the creativeness of the chef and his menu. The food was fresh, creative and delicious. We were really delighted. It wasn't a five-star dining experience (but you are not going in expecting that), rather, it is a twist on pub fare that will leave you pleasantly surprised. We also enjoyed that the restaurant was not 'full of itself', the staff, chef and owners were humble and grateful for any compliments and made us feel welcome and appreciated as diners at their restaurant. My friends and I were sold from the moment we walked in. So much so, that we went back for lunch the next day (it was a no-brainer) and the chef came out to say hi to us and thank us for coming back! We cannot say enough great things about our experience there. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to visit Cafe 13 and enjoy their great food and hospitality. Read more

My family started going here about a month ago for breakfast on Sunday mornings and absolutely love it!!! There is a wonderful homey feel that you get the minute you walk in the restaurant. It is the only place in Kingston we have found so far for breakfast that does not let your coffee cup go empty (a definite plus in our group). All of the servers are extremely nice, service is speedy, and the food is great. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a great homestyle place for breakfast. Read more

The vegetable lasagna was delicious, the sea food salad was superb, however the tiramisu was awful. I can't remember the name of the sea food pasta that we ordered but it wasn't good either. Went here for my birthday dinner with the family and I have to say it was an amazing meal! We all ordered different items off the menu and I think the staff thought we were crazy because we were trying each other's food, but I have everything was so tasty! The vegetarian main had many different elements to it and all were delicious, the mushroom tarte, steak frites and soup were great. Our waiter was very friendly and overall I would say the atmosphere is inviting. I consider this restaurant a little bit pricey, but perfect for a special occasion and worth the money. Read more
