On the weekend I dropped by because I learned that they had Lugtread Lagered Ale on tap. The hostess said that they were serving Sunday brunch and that sitting at the bar was awkward. However, soon, a waiter brought in a bar stool and soon I was sipping my fave beer on tap. It was a sunny day so the view was great, bartender friendly and as a bonus there was a keyboard player singing a whole host of great songs. I will definitely go back for beer...only place in town that serves Lugtread Ale. (I did not eat, but I had to click a food rating to save my review !) Read more

I only had a cupcake as I had already eaten when I stumbled upon this place during the Sound of Music Festival in the summer but it was a great first impression. I had a Dulche de Leche Cupcake that was really tasty- not overly sweet. It was not very light and fluffy, but maybe this is the norm for dulce de leche cupcakes? Anyway, it was a very impressive cupcake being gluten free and vegan! I think I remember it was ever sugar-free? The place itself is very cute (so colourful!) and the staff was very friendly. Stopped for lunch today at Detour Cafe where we enjoyed delicious grilled cheese sandwiches and two attractively prepared cortados. Seriously, everything was done to perfection. The order bar is at the front door. Lots of warm colours with smiling faces that are always patient and help full. For those that can't make up their minds your not hurried or rushed to make purchases. There are exceptions of course. The atmosphere is roomy, with enough space between tables for privacy. If your order is not ready at purchase point then the staff will bring it to you with out the feeling that you need to tip again if you did. Great seating with leather couches. Chairs and tables are far enough apart to have reasonably private conversation. The patio is overlooking the Bay. Hope that you like birds. Parking is walking distance or one minute from entrance. Williams is essentially an expanded coffee house, that offers food which is edible, but not great. But, that is to be expected, as no one would go here expecting fine dining. The prices are reasonable for the quality of the food, service is quick and the place seems to be clean. Being right across from McMaster, it is often full of students, many who come to study, and staff doesn't seem to mind. We loved it. We've stopped in several times. There's a nice selection and the food is fabulous. I love the Caesar Salad -- they even do takeout. A great selection of coffee and delightful desserts.
