Annie Abbruzzese grew up with animals, so it is no surprise that when she started thinking about being an entrepreneur the businesswoman chose the animal care industry. "My father was a veterinarian, so I have seen all kinds. But he had this way of treating animals that was full of respect and trust, and it always fascinated me to watch him work,” she recalls.
“His clinic was the first veterinary clinic in Montreal North. When I got older, I started to work with him; I took care of all the administration, the management of his clinic. I quickly saw that I too could turn my passion for animals into a career. However, I did not want to become a veterinarian. I took the time to think about it and grooming struck me as the best route for me,” she continues.
Initially, Annie began offering grooming services as a complement to her father’s veterinary services. “Then, he eventually retired," she explains, "and I continued what I had started with Chic Canin, which I opened in 1997.”
