The 1 duke restaurant is older restaurant under recently new management. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere with a comfortable and relaxing dining experience. A combination of a coffeehouse setting, mixed with a touch of a sports bar enjoyment. The staff is friendly and inviting, while leaving you with a sense of freedom and space. You can find many different and fun events to make an appearance in this restaurant. Whether it is a common band performance, even to a drag show to switch it to the uncommon. 1 duke has a wide variety of different dishes to choose from. From their appetizers that everyone can share to their main dishes with plentiful portions, which leave your stomach full and satisfied after every meal. Reasonable prices that offer something for everyone to choose from. Well maintained and kept clean to add to the experience. I definitely recommend choosing the 1 duke restaurant for you’re next dining experience. You will not be disappointed.
I have been to One Duke numerous times. The friendly staff are always smiling and very accommodating. We have had large gatherings as well as stopped in for lunch and drinks. I recommend this place over and over!
WOW, what a great place to just sit and enjoy a beautiful summer evening with some friends and family in down town hamilton.
We started off our night with the flat bread bruschetta, this was very delicious and way better then anywhere else, i love that it was a flat bread because it made it light and crunchy, there was so many flavors and the ingredients were fresh, really great job.
Next, I had the pesto penne, and asked if they could add veggies to it, without a problem the waitress said very kindly, no problem!... i was not expecting that! i dont usually like to be too picky, and im so glad it wasnt a problem because the dish came out perfectly! it was lit up with bright colours of green red and orange, it really made it look like a piece of art rather then just dinner.
My dad had the Deep Fried Ravioli as an entre ( its normally a starter). as soon as i saw it there was no hesitation to ask for a taste.. the ravioli was so good deep fried, ive never seen it like that in any other restaurant, how unique! and it was stuffed with stretchy gooey mozzarella cheese & the jalapeno really gave it an extra boost of flavor.
My sister had the Veggie Pizza, this was also amazing! the dough is home made, and you can really taste the difference, the thin crust makes it very light, crunchy, and not greasy at all. it is defiantly a very delicious, satisfying dish, and so fresh! not only because of the fresh dough, but the fresh ingredients too, like mushrooms, green pepper, tomatoes, onions & feta cheese. she couldn't Finnish the whole thing, the portion was so large, so we took it home. im going to have to fight with my sisters to get the left overs tomorrow.
now that i made it threw the food ill move onto the service & atmosphere.
the service was excellent my glass was always full and the waitress countinuesly came over to check up on us.. although she was busy (the patio was full) she always had her eyes on our table to make sure we were okay. our food came out on time & hot, everyone was very happy and smiling. & the atmosphere is relaxing, easy, and homey. Tonight they had a live acoustic performance, the singer just added to the downtown Hamilton vibe. it was so cool to be in a conversation with your friends and family knowing that there is live music playing around you.
My whole night was made by this experience, i cant even think of one bad thing... they have imported beers, specialty drinks, a great patio & amazing food. to be honest, i wish i knew the cook so i could take him/her home to cook for me! you guys need to check this place out.
went for dinner on a sunday night, had no trouble getting a table. Waitress was prompt in getting us drinks and menus. They were informative about the menu, accommodating for food allergies and very polite.
The food was good AND hot when it came to the table.
Liked the variation on the pizzas, got the bob marley.. they say it's spicy...it wasn't really but it was delish!
